Meeting Kayla Itsines: Sweat Tour LA
Kayla Itsines' Sweat Tour came to LA this weekend and basically it was the greatest day ever!
This past Sunday, I braved the heat along with thousands of other women at the Rose Bowl for the opportunity to sweat with fitness star, Kayla Itsines.
For those of you who don't know who she is, Kayla is the creator of the Sweat With Kayla App and Bikini Body Guides (BBG). Millions of women around the world (including me!) follow her fitness guides religiously, so having the chance to sweat with Kayla was a dream come true for us all.
The best part about following Kayla's guides is being part of the BBG community. I have met so many friends through this program and we were all so excited to go to this event together. Since the day the tour was announced, we had been planning for it and counting down the days for it to finally arrive.
When the big day finally arrived, I was so happy and anxious that I could barely contain my excitement. I quickly found my friends and not-so-patiently waited for the doors to open at 5pm. It was so great to see everyone, and of course, we took a million photos.
A little after 5pm, we grabbed our yoga mats and literally sprinted through the open doors in hopes of securing a front row spot. As I was running, I kept thinking how surreal it was to be running through the tunnels and onto the field of the world-famous Rose Bowl. How crazy is that?!
After sprinting down the end of the field, we snagged some great spots in the second and third rows, so we were ecstatic. Soon Tobi Pearce, Kayla's boyfriend and co-founder of Sweat with Kayla walked out on stage to address the eager crowd.
Tobi talked for several minutes about how Sweat with Kayla is the largest women's fitness community in the world. He boasted that there are over 5 million women across the globe following this program, which is truly mind blowing and an amazing feat.
He talked about how special the BBG community is for being full of women who support, encourage, and include one another. He concluded by expressing his gratitude for the community and said this tour was a way for him and Kayla to give back to it.
Once Tobi finished, a giant countdown appeared on the screens and everyone jumped up and down in excitement. When the countdown hit zero, Kayla emerged from the tunnels, running up to the stage as an eruption of screams and cheers filled the stadium.
Kayla appeared a bit nervous and was in awe of how many women were in the audience. She quickly had us sweating after an intense warm-up and kept joking about how we were going to hate her for making us do one of BBG's most dreaded exercises: commandos.
As the bootcamp continued, I kept thinking how amazing it was to be working out alongside the person who inspired me to start my fitness journey and ultimately create this blog. I have been following her exercise program for almost a year, and if it weren't for her and her guides, I would not be where I am today.
We continued following Kayla's commands, doing exercises like tuck jumps, burpees, squats, lunges, ab bikes, and of course, commandos.
By the time the 45 minutes were up, we were all tired, but feeling great. Kayla and her team then threw tons of swag out into the crowd and I was lucky enough to catch a Sweat with Kayla water bottle.
Once the giveaways were done, everyone ran to line up to have their picture taken with Kayla. When it was finally my turn to meet her, I was so nervous and didn't even know what to say to her. I simply thanked her and told her how excited I was to finally meet her.
She was so sweet to my sister and I and she complimented us on our matching outfits. Being the dog-lover she is, she stopped everything to look at my sister's phone case that has a picture of our dog, Maizey on it.
After the picture was taken, I said goodbye to my friends and gathered my belongings. I walked back to my car with the biggest smile on my face thinking about how perfect the day had been.
Come back to America again soon, Kayla!
