Event Recap: Propel Co:Labs & Barry's Bootcamp in Denver
When I heard that Barry's Bootcamp was coming to Denver for a pop up fitness week, I knew I couldn't pass that up! If you haven't heard of it, Barry's Bootcamp is a fitness studio that mixes cardio and strength intervals for a fun fat-burning workout!
I had heard a lot of great things about Barry's, but never had the chance to check it out before I left LA. So, you can understand how stoked I was for Propel to team up with Barry's to bring it to Denver for a week of heart-pumping workouts!
I went to the Wednesday night event and I'm not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous. I really had no idea what to expect, but I knew it wouldn't be an easy workout.
When I arrived at the pop-up venue, I was greeted by the super friendly Propel and Barry's team who gave me bottles of Propel to drink during the workout.
They gave me a quick tour and the space was beautiful! It was located at an event venue off of Sante Fe and it had lots of natural lighting and gorgeous chandeliers and string lights hanging from the ceiling.
I grabbed a mini smoothie from the smoothie bar, got my picture taken at the photo booth, and chatted with the other attendees while I waited for the class to start.
Soon loud music was pumping through the walls of the room down the hall and we were all ushered in for the workout to start.
The group was split in two, with half of us starting on the treadmills and the other half starting on the floor. There was a live DJ mixing the playlist and our instructor starting yelling out commands.
Those of us on the treadmill started out with a walk that quickly turned into a jog. Every few minutes the instructor would tell us to increase our speed and incline. At one point we were full-blown sprinting up a steep incline and I really questioned whether I would make it!
There was a lot of huffing and puffing, but thankfully, I made it through. After a few minutes, the groups switched and I headed to the floor.
On the floor, each of us had an aerobic bench and 2 resistance bands. We put the resistance bands under the bench and used them to do a variety of arm exercises like bicep curls, flys, and tricep extensions.
After a few minutes, my arms were burning! I don't normally do exercises like that with bands, but man, they are effective! I think I'll start incorporating those into my workouts.
Next, I headed back to the treadmill for 10 minutes of interval sprints and then followed it up with a leg workout on the floor.
By the time the class ended, I was feeling the burn all over and was ready for a nap. Overall, I loved the class and really enjoyed trying something new. Barry's, please come to Denver soon!
Thanks to Propel for inviting me and for bringing such a fun event to Denver!
