About Mikaela Moves
Hello and welcome to Mikaela Moves, a blog that celebrates movement and healthy living. My goal is simple: to encourage you to move more! Whether it’s running, walking, talking a class, or lifting in the gym, I want to encourage you to find your favorite type of movement and practice it often.
Because I believe movement is medicine.
During my last year of college I suddenly felt sick all the time. It didn’t matter what I ate, my stomach felt horrible after every meal and I constantly experienced indigestion. I tried cutting out all different types of food, made appointments with specialists, and still couldn’t find relief.
In addition to my stomach issues, I was constantly stressed and anxious, which only made me feel worse.
Around this time, I started exercising regularly and to my surprise, it made me feel so much better. Working out completely eased my mind and took away my anxiety. It also cleared up my digestive issues and I finally felt normal again.
Overtime, I fell in love with movement and started this blog in 2015 as a way to share my passions with all of you. I became a certified personal trainer in 2017 and I hope to inspire you to move your body so that you too can experience its healing powers.

I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and love helping others discover the benefits of exercise. I've been an athlete my whole life, but it wasn't until a few years ago that fitness became one of my biggest passions.
I am currently based in Oakland, California, which is the third city I've lived in since starting this blog. I’m a Massachusetts native and mostly grew up in Denver, Colorado. I've moved around a lot, but I wouldn't change the experiences I've had for the world.
